Our Response to COVID-19

Our response to COVID-19

Dear Church Family,

As many of you are aware, the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has escalated and is having a major impact globally. While there is much concern, we are confident in the protection and provision of our faithful Father amidst times like these. We believe that faith should be accompanied by wisdom, so we have done our best to comply with the recommendations of our government while trusting in the Lord.

As of 1:40 pm Tuesday, March 17th, Alberta’s Health Minister recommended the immediate suspension of all gatherings over 15 people because of the risks of COVID-19. To this effect, we have decided to close our building for all activities and services until further notice. To confirm, this means that our Thursday night “Family Night” and Sunday morning gathering will not be happening.

We will, however, broadcast our full Sunday service that includes worship, prayer, sermon, and ministry. We encourage all of our church family to gather in your living rooms and join our Sunday service via our live steam. This will begin at 9:55am and will be available on our Facebook and YouTube channel. (Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/thechurchse/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtLKggXCAl1tD6ejSr1pdQ)

Throughout this time we will be reaching out to as many of our church family as possible and encourage you to do the same. Let’s take this opportunity to be intentional and make sure everyone is loved and cared for. Should you need any prayer or support, please don’t hesitate to email us at info@thechurchse.com, or by calling (780) 988-1344.

For those of you who would normally give your tithes and offerings in person on Sunday, we want to remind you we are set up for you to give easily and securely online through our website. Please visit www.thechurchse.com to give online and if you need help in this process, please reach out via the email or phone number above.

Our Family Bible Study has moved to the Zoom platform. Every week we will send out a link via E-Mail, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to join us at 6:30 pm every Thursday.

Although this is a time of some uncertainty, we know that our God is bigger! Let’s take this opportunity to be wise and cautious, while being a light in the darkness and a helping hand to all. This scenario could be an incredible opportunity for us to reach the people of the city in fresh ways and see God move in the midst of us.

Watch for emails, our website and social media posts for the latest updates.

Finally, we need to join together in prayer for the people who are working diligently and responding to their calling by caring for those who are sick, for those who are suffering around the world, and for the areas in the world where this virus is causing major upheaval. Pray for competent leadership in the public health sector. Pray for safety and protection for our city, province and the nations of the world. Our God is the God of miracles. Take time today to read and meditate on Psalm 91…..

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!’ For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. ‘Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him. With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.’”

Psalm 91 NASB

It’s a great antivirus passage of scripture! We were born for such a time as this!

Peace & Love,
